Gas Mask (M50) Fit Test IAW AFI 48-137, Respiratory Protection Program: - Each military member must complete gas mask QNFT upon arrival at his/her first permanent duty station or within 30 days of assignment to a deployable Unit Type Code. - Refrain from eating, drinking, or smoking 45 minutes prior to appointment, as doing this can negatively affect your fit test - Ensure that no facial hair comes between the sealing surface of the facepiece and the face or interferes with valve function, if required to wear a tight-fitting facepiece. - Member must re-accomplish gas mask QNFT if a new size or type mask is issued, the wearer gains/loses 10% or more of body weight following completion of the initial QNFT or the wearer experiences extensive dental work, facial surgery, scarring, or disfigurement. Respiratory Protection (7800S) Fit Test Please make sure you’ve completed your initial RP questionnaire via your IMR before booking your appointment. IAW 29 CFR 1910.134, Respiratory Protection, & AFI 48-137, Respiratory Protection Program: Initial Questionnaires - For first time personnel enrolling in a RP program, initial medical evaluation questionnaires (MEQ) must be completed and turned into Public Health (982-3717). A Flight Medicine doctor will review and sign off on the MEQ prior to the individual scheduling a fit test. The signed/approved MEQ should be presented to Bioenvironmental Engineering at the time of the fit test.
